Will
my pets and I get to meet the pet sitter before we decide to choose your
service?
Yes, we will come to your home for the Initial Client Interview at no charge to
you. We spend about 30-60 minutes meeting with you and your pets, going over
the service contract, and answering any other questions you have at that time.
This interview allows us to individualize our services for you and your pets.
Why
should I choose your service over a kennel?
We believe that our service is a great alternative to boarding facilities. Pets
are happier staying in their own homes. We follow your pet's normal eating and
exercising routines, which helps to keep them healthy and happy. Many pets
become stressed being left in a strange environment, surrounded by other
unfamiliar animals. You, the owner, do not have to inconvenienced by having to
bring your pets to and from the boarding facility. When you arrive home, your
pets will be happily awaiting for you. Most importantly, we give your pets
individualized love, attention, and companionship.
How is your service different from part-time pet sitters, errand services, and
kid-next-door pet sitting?
First and foremost, Penny’s Pals is a professional pet sitting service owned
and operated by Bruce Douglas. That means that you will always know who is
coming into your house. We carry insurance and are bonded. We educate ourselves by taking courses to
further our knowledge of pets and their care (Pet First Aid course offered by
the American Red Cross, regularly reading about things that may present hazards
to your pet, etc.) We monitor
professional organizations in our field (Pet Sitters International,
Professional United Pet Sitters) that keep us informed about pet-related issues and provide us with updated information for improving our services. We truly LOVE what we do. More than a profession, what we do is a vocation. We are drawn
to the care of animals, and as such, we are concerned, compassionate
caregivers. Unlike the part-timer, the errand service, or the kid-next-door who
pet sit for extra cash, we have devoted ourselves to providing your pet the
best possible care. We spend a great deal of our income on furthering the
quality of our services, and making you and your pet happy! (We provide you
with important pet care information we feel you may benefit from, and leave you
personal notes about how much we enjoy being with your special fur-kid).
How do you get my house key and do you charge for this service?
We always require one copy of your house key when we pet sit. We can pick them
up at your home or office and return them for a $7.50 fee, each instance. Or,
you can be part of our Ready Key Service. The Ready Key Service allows us to
keep a copy of your house key on file in a secured locked box in our office.
Clients choosing the Ready Key Service never have to worry about paying the
$7.50 fee for key pickup/drop-off and once they fill out the service contract
they can just call in for future pet sitting reservations.
What happens if my pets gets sick or hurt while you are pet sitting?
We sincerely hope that doesn't happen, and we will do everything possible to prevent
it. But if it does, we have created the following plan. During the Initial
Client Interview, we will provide you with a Veterinarian Release form to sign.
This allows us to seek medical treatment for your pet should it become
necessary in your absence. We also ask that you provide your vet with a copy of
this form, so they can keep it in your pets file.
